Frank
Lisciandro, noted photographer, author and filmmaker is the latest
artist to select The Rare Collections to help represent his 1960’s Rock
and Roll themed Fine Art Photography to collectors in the United States
and Worldwide.
Lisciandro, Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek met while attending UCLA Film
School. Lisciandro, who became close friends with Morrison, documented
the band during the height of their popularity. His photographs take us
from the stage to Morrison’s private life creating a candid
photo-journal scarcely seen by the public. As well as photography,
Lisciandro has produced film work including Feast of Friends, 1969, HWY, 1970, Siamo Fuori, 1998, and Una Favola Vera, 2000. He co-produced the 1979 Grammy-nominated album, "An American Prayer", and is the author of photo-journals A Feast of Friends and Jim Morrison: An Hour for Magic.
“Our
desire to preserve Jim Morrison’s legacy both with The Doors and as an
individual artist and poet is what brought us together with Frank,”
said Andrew Kirby, Executive Producer of The Rare Collections. “His
photographs artistically document a very special time in music history
and bring modern collectors as close as possible to experiencing each
unique moment.”
The
Collection of Fine Art Photography available for purchase include some
exclusive signed artist proofs, limited edition numbered signed fine art
prints and select vintage photographic prints from Lisciandro’s days
documenting Jim Morrison and The Doors. Additionally, Art Prints of his
rare photographs of the 1968 Newport Pop Festival in California include
images of Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane,
Country Joe, Canned Heat, Taj Mahal, the Animals and images of many
other 1960’s iconic bands.
Concurrently, Frank Lisciandro also has a world premier exhibit in Italy of his exclusive fine art prints documenting The Doors behind the scenes making of the album LA Woman.
