An extremely rare contract signed by Jim Morrison of The Doors has become available for sale through The Rare Collections on the 69th anniversary of Morrison's birth. The piece is the only known 1968 contract regarding the editing of the film “Feast of Friends.”

Released March 13, 1970, this tour documentary was edited from more than 20 hours of performance and backstage footage from The Doors 1968 North American tour. Directed by Paul Ferrara, edited by Frank Lisciandro with sound recording by Babe Hill, the cast includes Jim Morrison, John Densmore, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek and Pastor Fred L. Stegmeyer. Actor Harrison Ford, a friend of Ferrara, worked as grip for the crew for one or two days. In March 1969, the production was halted and what had already been filmed and edited was released as "Feast of Friends."
Although portions of the film have been screened at various events and used within The Doors official promotional videos and also in the 2010 documentary "When You’re Strange" by Tom Dicillo, an original edit of the finished film has never been released.

This original contract is one of that were drawn and signed by Jim Morrison. It features Morrison’s signature on the second page and initials and a note stating "percentage to be 5%" on the first page. There are two types of pen used by Morrison on the contract because he reviewed the document twice. The piece is in excellent condition.

“What makes this piece especially desirable is the provenance. Original Jim Morrison autographs are very rare and highly forged. This piece comes from one of the original contracted parties and has stayed with that person since the original signing. You just don’t find that sort of solid provenance in the memorabilia market very often and it certainly adds to the value of the piece,” said Andrew Kirby, Executive Producer of The Rare Collections.

This piece is available for purchase through The Rare Collections for a limited time. Other rare and exclusive Fine Art Photography and limited edition vintage photographic prints from Frank Lisciandro’s days of documenting Jim Morrison and The Doors are also available.
